Former President Donald TRUMP has initiated a high-stakes legal battle against The New York Times, seeking $15 billion in damages for alleged defamation and libel. The lawsuit, filed in Florida, accuses the publication of acting as a "mouthpiece" for the Democratic Party and engaging in a prolonged campaign of false reporting.

The claim surpasses the $9.4 billion market capitalization of The New York Times Company, signaling an aggressive escalation in Trump's ongoing conflicts with media outlets. Penguin Random House and four individual reporters are also named as defendants in the 85-page filing.

In a Truth Social post, Trump declared an end to what he described as years of unchecked attacks: "The New York Times has been allowed to freely lie, smear, and defame me for far too long, and that stops, NOW!" The Times has dismissed the lawsuit as meritless, framing it as an attack on independent journalism.
